Privacy & cookies

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This is my personal portfolio. I want to collect as little as possible. This page explains what is stored, why, and how to change your mind.

Who is responsible

Elio Gereige, owner of eliogereige.com, is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, use the contact form.

Always on (no consent needed)

These are strictly necessary for the site to work and don't track you:

NameWhat it doesKept for
cookiePrefs (browser storage)Remembers your cookie choice.Until you clear site data
theme (browser storage)Remembers light or dark mode.Until you clear site data
Session storageCaches article summaries and music state while the tab is open.Until you close the tab

Analytics (only if you allow it)

If you choose Accept All, or switch on Analytics Cookies, the site loads Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Ltd. Nothing is loaded before you agree.

It collects the pages you view, how far you scroll, which buttons and outside links you click, roughly where you are (country/city), your device and browser type, and which site sent you here. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Advertising features and Google signals are turned off.

CookiePurposeKept for
_gaTells visits from the same browser apart2 years
_ga_<ID>Keeps track of your current visit2 years

Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Google may process this data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted. See Google's privacy policy.

Change or withdraw your choice

You can change your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent stops analytics right away and deletes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.

Other things the site does

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict your data, to object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, use the contact form. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.
